People say that, if you take away Donald Trump’s Twitter account, he is pretty much a normal Republican President — bar the odd foaming press conference. That’s largely true. But is @realDonaldTrump really the real Donald Trump? Is it a split off personality or some brilliant demon? This question has irked Cockburn commentators for years. Perhaps we’ll never know.
Well today @realDonaldTrump has taken his quantum virtual personality into another realm of madness but turning on Twitter itself. Today he appears to have accused the social media site of conspiracy to undermine his Twitter account. He tweets:
Twitter has removed many people from my account and, more importantly, they have seemingly done something that makes it much harder to join – they have stifled growth to a point where it is obvious to all. A few weeks ago it was a Rocket Ship, now it is a Blimp! Total Bias?

‘Twitter has removed many people from my account and, more importantly, they have seemingly done something that makes it much harder to join – they have stifled growth to a point where it is obvious to all. A few weeks ago it was a Rocket Ship, now it is a Blimp! Total Bias?’
What does he mean? Is the blimp a canny reference to the infamous mocking blimp of Trump in a nappy? Is he really depressed at 55.3 million followers? Could he be on to something?
It certainly seems true that Trump’s follower count is flatlining. It must be a terrible affront to his virtual ego. Is it possible that Twitter’s policy of deleting what it deems hateful accounts has started to hurt Trump’s Twitter popularity? Or is it the first true sign of @RealDonaldTrump fatigue?
