A few things Cockburn always enjoys (aside from alcohol and low prices) are drama and scandal. He was therefore delighted to learn this week that actor Bradley Cooper has been secretly dating Huma Abedin, the former top aide to Hillary Clinton and ex-wife of the political excommunicate Anthony Weiner.
Per Page Six, “The top aide to Hillary Clinton… has been seeing the A-lister for the past few months, according to multiple insiders… Page Six is told that the high-profile pair arrived together at the Met Gala on May 2 and then split up for the red carpet. Pictures show Abedin, forty-six, in a canary-yellow gown posing for the cameras, with Cooper, forty-seven, keeping his distance behind her.”
Their common link was Vogue editor Anna Wintour, who played matchmaker with them months before it was known to the media.
This is a good look for both Cooper and Abedin and, no, not because both parties were speculated to be gay at one point or another.
Cooper has had several relationships with starlets, including Olivia Wilde, Jennifer Lopez and Zoe Saldaña. Dating someone who isn’t a pop star or an actress is a fresh direction for him.
As for Abedin, well, anyone who was married to Anthony Weiner, who was later convicted for underage sexting, deserves a break. Weiner was originally sentenced to twelve months for sexting a teen in 2017. Before that, Abedin was rumored to have been with actors George Clooney and John Cusack.
Cockburn wishes the lovebirds well and, gossip fiend that he is, comforts himself with the knowledge that if the pair ever split up, or find themselves in even the most minor of conflicts, the rest of us are all going to hear about it.
