It’s not just women’s high school and college sports that need to be protected from biological men, apparently. The DC intramural softball circuit has become another battleground for “trans rights.” Cockburn has learned that Democratic and progressive co-ed teams are skirting league rules regarding how many women must play in each game by filling their spots with trans women — i.e. those born as males.
The Center for American Progress, a left-wing think tank, fielded an over-six-foot trans woman in a recent game against a conservative media outlet. Some players on the team said that it didn’t matter much because the person was not very good at softball, while others got the impression that he/she was intentionally playing poorly to avoid criticism. Either way, CAP made their stance on their teammate clear by dramatically planting a trans Pride flag in the ball dirt ahead of the first pitch.
Over on Capitol Hill, a legislative director for Congressman Marc Veasey is openly campaigning for Democrats who “identify as a woman” to fill spots vacated by women who got injured during the season.
The staffer described the league as “not very competitive” and more about giving friends the opportunity to “hit some dingers and have a couple of drinks in the process.” Cockburn hopes Bud Light is on the menu!
One league player said of the trans inclusion: “The Dems are literally coming for our ankles.”
Abby Grossberg’s Fox News payday?
Abby Grossberg, the former Tucker Carlson Tonight booker who claimed she endured a hostile workplace environment, might be reaching a fat settlement with Fox News. Three individuals familiar with the negotiations told Cockburn that despite Fox’s investigations not finding any wrongdoing among the TCT staffers, settlement discussions are hovering around the $12 million mark. One added that they believed the deal had already been inked last week. A lawyer for Grossberg, however, said those claims are “outlandish” and that the litigation is still active.
Update, 4 p.m. ET: Over two hours after Cockburn revealed the $12 million settlement figure, and a day after Grossberg’s lawyer Paris Filippatos told Cockburn that claims of a settlement were “outlandish,” the New York Times’s Katie Robertson reported that Abby Grossberg had settled with Fox News for $12 million, in an article featuring a quote from… her lawyer Parisis Filippatos. Lawyers, eh?

When in Rome, brawl as the tech bros do
After social media magnates Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg were out of the headlines for a few days, they sparked off a news storm by agreeing to a cage fight. Both men seemed keen and then Musk’s mom Maye waded in, condemning the brawl and saying instead that they should have a “verbal fight only” — which, in her defense, may be the most hilariously awkward conversation you could ever watch.
But now, the fight may be back on after an official from the Italian government contacted Mark Zuckerberg about hosting the UFC fight against Elon Musk at the most famous battleground in the world… Rome’s Colosseum, according to TMZ Sports. Cockburn can only hope that Musk and Zuck wear more than a loincloth in their gladiatorial fight. Are you not entertained?
