Cockburn is thrilled that Stephanie Grisham has assumed the double duty of White House communications director and, most vivaciously, White House spokeswoman.
Stephanie has already served ably as spokeswoman to the First Lady. Stephanie and Melania even bear a passing resemblance.
Sure, Stephanie’s had her wild moments, like two DUIs this decade. But that’s a problem for her Top Secret clearance appraiser, not for Trump or the general public. It just adds to Cockburn’s sense that she’s a lot of fun.
Last week, with John Bolton exiled in Outer Mongolia — yes, really — Grisham did a stint as the president’s new bad cop. The new spox apparently scuffled with Kim Jong-un’s imperial guard as her boss attempted to revive talks for peace with Pyongyang. The fracas occurred before she had officially started in her new role. If that isn’t putting America First, Cockburn doesn’t know what is.
That wasn’t the first time Grisham has gone brass-knuckle. She promises to be a hot hybrid, mixing the cut-throat style of a young Anthony Scaramucci with the demure discretion of Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
Grisham’s other claim to fame was as her ruthless stiff arming of Bolton’s top deputy, Mira Ricardel. Last year, in a bizarre episode that’s still not been fully explained, Grisham said that it was ‘the position of the Office of the First Lady that [Ricardel] no longer deserves the honor of serving in this White House.’
Soon after, Ricardel was run out, and reshuffled elsewhere in the admin. Grisham had taken on the mustache-sporting, warmongering national security adviser Bolton and won. Grisham vs Bolton could be one of the more tempestuous clashes of this administration.
Stephanie Grisham is more than a Sean Spicer in six-inch stilettos. The new White House spokeswoman won’t be hiding in any bushes. Cockburn is already quivering in anticipation of her next press conference.
