Cockburn is all too familiar with the perils of working from home. He can, therefore, sympathize with the five or so Republican politicians who are self-quarantining for the next few days. Life can get very boring and we can fall prey to temptation.
Beware, then, Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, who has been offered $100,000 in credits by Cams.com, an adult entertainment site upon which webcam models perform acts of their clientele’s choosing.
‘Given the fact that Sen. Cruz is now at home under self-quarantine — and considering his affinity for adult entertainment — we wanted to extend him an offer to enjoy NSFW content from the comfy confines of his home,’ said Gunner Taylor, director of strategic development at Cams.com in a press release.
‘Cams.com is a leading adult entertainment webcam platform that boasts thousands of beautiful models. We hope that some indulgence in our platform can help Sen. Cruz recuperate.’
Who says a health crisis can’t be a PR stunt? Cruz is one of five Republican members of Congress presently self-quarantining after coming into contact with a person who contracted the coronavirus at the Conservative Political Action Conference in National Harbor, Maryland at the end of last month. The others are Reps. Doug Collins, Matt Gaetz, Paul Gosar and Mark Meadows. To Cockburn’s knowledge, Cams.com has not offered these congressmen webcam credit, nor has any other adult site.
The opportunistic pornography site chose Cruz because their target after a 2017 incident where the conservative senator’s Twitter account ‘liked’ an adult video tweeted out by @SexuallPosts, an account which has since been suspended. Cruz claimed that the tweet had been liked by a staffer in an ‘honest mistake‘. He also quipped ‘if I had known that this would trend so quickly, then perhaps we should have posted something like this during the Indiana primary.’ Ho ho — please let’s move on.
