Weekend host Tiffany Cross has been cut from MSNBC. According to Variety, “MSNBC decided not to renew Cross’s contract after two years… and severed ties with her immediately.” The trade paper is rather euphemistic in its description of why Cross was shown the door:
Executives at the network [were] growing concerned about the anchor’s willingness to address statements made by cable-news hosts on other networks and indulging in commentary executives felt did not meet the standards of MSNBC or NBC News.

Allow Cockburn to translate: Cross was becoming burdensome to the network for her regular rash remarks. She advised white people to “sit out” from the discussion about Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars, characterized the NFL as “all these black men crashing into each other with a bunch of white owners, white coaches, and the complete disregard for black bodies and black life” — and most recently described Florida as the “dick of the country” on Charlamagne Tha God’s show.

Cross’s ouster could be a harbinger of things to come, according to a TV industry insider. As economic conditions have worsened — and viewership has fallen — media executives are faced with the need to cut costs. As with any company, the first to go are the most expendable. At a number of media companies, per Cockburn’s source, the most expendable are often the woke, the race-baiters. Harping on at your audience in order to imbue them with white guilt, belittling whole states who vote a different way to you: these are sure-fire ways to get viewers to switch channels – and that is not healthy for a business that relies on return audiences.

The actions of CNN’s Chris Licht, including his demotion of Don Lemon, and Netflix’s Ted Sarandos in standing up to efforts to cancel Dave Chappelle are apparently emboldening other media executives to put the bottom line ahead of cowering to the woke mob.

Cockburn wonders if Sunny Hostin will be next on the chopping block. The View host went after suburban women who vote Republican this week, saying they were “like roaches voting for Raid.” Way to win them back, Sunny! Cockburn is sure the ABC bigwigs are loving your outreach efforts to that crucial constituency…
