Are Harry and Meghan set for a rebrand?

According to Tom Bower, author of Revenge: Meghan, Harry, and the War Between the Windsors, the couple’s latest scheme is to recast themselves as Meghan and Harry Spencer, the maiden name of Harry’s late mother, Princess Diana. “What’s really interesting in the rebranding of the Sussexes is… that Meghan decided that her real objective in life was to be Diana,” the author told GB News Tuesday. “Meghan went to the extent of suggesting that they should drop the name ‘Windsor’ and take the surname ‘Spencer,’ so she would…

“Meghan went to the extent of suggesting that they should drop the name ‘Windsor’ and take the surname ‘Spencer,’ so she would be Meghan Spencer, the new Diana.”

“They’ve actively discussed this,” Bower continued. “Not only by themselves but with others too. This isn’t something that’s plucked out of their minds; they are actively trying to recast themselves as Diana, and Meghan Spencer… It’s all about the break-off, they would also have given up the Sussex title because you’ve got the new incarnation of Diana.”

Reacting to the news, Petronella Wyatt, a columnist and commentator with links to the royal family, said that “Megs didn’t get Dior but she wants to be Di” — a reference to how a Dior spokesperson had debunked rumors about Meghan signing with the fashion house. Wyatt added that, “Charles Spencer might have something sharp to say about that,” while an anonymous source close to the royals told The Spectator, “They’ll be lucky. Charles Spencer will be furious.”

So how many PR blunders have Meghan and Harry made in the last three years? When the pair first announced that they were stepping down as working members of the royal family, the majority of people were at least quietly supportive. The naughty prince and his American actress wife just weren’t a good fit for public service, and wanted to focus on their own thing.

Three years later we have learned that their main “thing” is grifting. Hundreds of millions of dollars have been spent on them in exchange for work, they wanted a job that was more real, remember? But as the recent Spotify drama has shown, Harry and Meghan are allergic to labor. Now the pair have run out of road.

While the couple have faced some bumps in the road this month; court cases, potential deportation and Spotify “parting ways” with them, they seem to think that the Spencer name may save them. We’ll see if Uncle Charlie — the current Earl Spencer — has something to say about that.
