Cockburn came across this interesting little tidbit while he was stirring his first apéritif of the early afternoon: a Vox preview of Christopher Whipple’s forthcoming book, The Fight of His Life: Inside Joe Biden’s White House, reports that President Biden is distrustful of his Secret Service team and believes the agency fabricated a story about Biden’s German Shepherd, Major, biting an agent.

Major Biden and fellow White House German Shepherd, Champ, were removed to Delaware for a while following the alleged incident.

Vox reports how in the book, “Whipple details how Biden was showing a friend around the White House and pointed to the spot where Major allegedly bit a member of Biden’s security team. ‘Look, the Secret Service are never up here. It didn’t happen,’ said Biden.”

Other elements of the book paint the Biden White House as being run by an insecure, paranoid old man. It details how both Biden and Nancy Pelosi were worried Donald Trump would use military force to overturn the 2020 election, and how Biden still suspects the Secret Service of being Trump loyalists, to the point that, as the book’s teaser says, “[Biden] no longer speaks freely around his security detail.”

“The distrust of Trump was so profound that Biden tried to remove reminders of the former president’s presence from the White House whenever possible,” Vox reports. “According to Whipple’s account, this included an effort to remove the Resolute desk, which Biden believed was tainted by Trump’s use of it, from the Oval Office…”

Biden didn’t get his wish, and as far as Cockburn can tell, the only things that have been removed from the White House so far have been Biden’s pets.

Cockburn is intrigued by Whipple’s book, written “with remarkable access to both President Biden and his inner circle.” Cockburn only wonders if Major Biden has been interviewed, and if he bit the Secret Service agent to get away from Biden’s inner circle? German Shepherds are known to be highly intelligent…
