If you’re looking for accurate, hard-hitting, unbiased journalism, look no further than former Biden administration press secretary Jen Psaki interviewing the former chief of staff who hired her, Ron Klain, about the administration they both worked for.

That’s just what MSNBC tried to pass off as balanced coverage of current events, as Inside with Jen Psaki this weekend looked more like a segment of propaganda you’d see on the Korean Central News Agency than on a major American news network trying to be taken seriously.

That’s just what MSNBC tried to pass off as balanced coverage of current events, as Inside with Jen Psaki this weekend looked more like a segment of propaganda you’d see on the Korean Central News Agency than on a major American news network trying to be taken seriously.

Of course it’s par for the course for former press secretaries to move onto TV jobs, but something about a former administration mouthpiece becoming a mainstream media administration mouthpiece seems a bit off to Cockburn. Psaki, to her credit, did not play non-partisan games with her viewers during her most recent Klain interview (he’s been on her show before), opting for unabashed flattery straight out of the gate. Her eyes sparkling and her mouth pursed in a delighted smile, Psaki told her grinning former boss, “You have more experience in Washington in every job there is than almost anyone.”

From there, the pair dissected Donald Trump’s social media posts, discussing “how concerned” we should be about them, how the former president is “trying to intimidate witnesses,” with Klain concluding the former president’s posts are “possibly also criminal, on top of everything else.”

Psaki then turned the conversation to the eve of January 6, and both former Biden staffers were able heartwarmingly to bond over their shared anxieties. Klain provided insight into the job of a chief of staff and how he is assured there was a “conspiracy” that developed in the White House to “stop the lawful process of the transition of power” in which Trump played a part.

The cute couple shared a giggle over former vice president Mike Pence referring to Trump’s legal team as “crackpot lawyers” and how that “gives crackpots a bad name” (per Klain). Psaki also fawned over Klain’s work as a chief of staff trying to “settle the country” when he served in the Biden administration.

Cockburn can’t be sure, but he wouldn’t be surprised if Psaki whipped out her phone to call Dear Leader Biden for a speaker phone reunion with Klain after the show wrapped…
