The liars are being lied to and it is a sight to behold. White House press secretary Jen Psaki is offering the likes of Kaitlan Collins and Peter Alexander a tutorial on how to be patronizing in the briefing room — not that they need it.

The most recent example came when Psaki said the Biden administration has a handle on the overwhelming influx of illegals at the southern border. This, by all accounts, is not true.

CBS reported this that the number of unaccompanied minors in Border Patrol custody is at an all-time high. While the talking heads on CNN and MSNBC might not be screaming about kids in cages, they are quietly acknowledging unaccompanied children in overflow facilities. Words matter.

But Jen Psaki isn’t letting the inconvenient facts stop her from claiming that the Biden administration has a handle on this problem. ‘You know, first, let me say that, like COVID — obviously a different issue, but we recognize this is a big problem — the last administration left us a dismantled and unworkable system.’ Considering how long it took the press secretary to acknowledge that there even is a problem, I’d describe this statement as progress.

Only last week when Psaki was asked if there was a crisis at the border, she said ‘I don’t think we need to sit here and put new labels on what we have already conveyed is challenging.’ Though Jen might not be a fan of assigning labels, she is certainly more than happy to assign blame to the previous administration. In Psaki’s defense, she knows this tactic will go over swimmingly with the media. The press loves slapping the ‘Orange Man Bad’ label on a story, gathering some shaky quotes from anonymous sources and then sending the bombshell off to print.

But even far-left news outlets are pushing back on the idea that Biden inherited a broken system from Trump. The border crossings and surge of unaccompanied minors came after Biden’s administration reversed a number of Trump-era policies. Not to mention the inconvenient fact that some of these illegal immigrants are actually showing up at the border wearing ‘Biden please let us in’ T-shirts.

CNN’s Kaitlan Collins pushed back on Psaki’s refusal to designate the border situation a crisis last week. ‘They’re spending on average over 100 hours — four days — in these facilities that are jail-like facilities not meant for children, so how can you say that’s not a crisis?’

While the tension in the press briefings is not as obvious or edgy as it was during the Trump presidency, the reporters are clearly growing frustrated with the circling back secretary. Not only does Psaki not care to address their questions, but she actively expects them to believe a false reality. For instance, when one reporter asked Psaki when they could expect a solo press conference from Biden, the press secretary explained that her boss had taken plenty of questions from reporters. When the reporter, unsatisfied, followed up again about Biden talking to the press, Psaki responded, ‘I think he’s answered questions. I believe that count is almost 40 times.’ She is referring to the brief back-and-forth exchanges Joe occasionally has with reporters after he signs whatever executive order is put in front of him. Oh and don’t forget that one time when Joe stumbled around the White House lawn and took a reporter’s question about his Valentine’s Day gift for Dr Jill. How much more transparency do these reporters want?

The press pack don’t appreciate being gaslit every day while they also get little to no time with the leader of the free world. Biden’s first press conference as president will take place next week — though this is unlikely to placate the hacks. Spinners don’t like having the story spun for them. Lest anyone forget, these reporters are the heroes who stop Democracy from Dying in Darkness. They are the gatekeepers who use semantics and condescension to shape the Story of the Day. Now the BS artists are being served malarkey — and they don’t like the taste.

The golden rule in life is to treat others the way you want to be treated. For four years the press treated the American people like credulous morons. Whether CNN was breathlessly reporting on the Russian hoax or NPR was shamelessly ignoring the Hunter Biden scandal, these journalists have expected us to buy their bogus bombshells and applaud their courage in the face of Trump. Psaki is now telling the Ministry of Truth that an apple is actually a banana. I’m not sure there has ever been a more well-deserved comeuppance.
