Exciting times at Turning Point USA, the Tea Party college activism group founded by Charlie Kirk (who never attended college).
It emerged today that everyone’s favorite plagiarist Benny Johnson will be joining from the Daily Caller as Chief Creative Officer. Cockburn congratulates the (presumed) author of ‘Penis Pump Claims Becoming A Stiff Problem For Federal Government’, and wishes him well with his endeavors to draw in more college kids to the movement.
Judging by how their Facebook advertising campaigns are going, he’ll have his work cut out for him. As a keen-eyed left-wing activist noticed on Twitter, despite TPUSA’s target audience being college students between the ages of 18-23, it’s that demographic that are seeing the least of their boosted posts.
Surprisingly, Turning Point memes seem to especially find favor among the 55-64 age group.
In many cases, 18-23-year-olds comprise fewer than 0.5 percent of the ad’s total viewership.
Several possible explanations abound. Perhaps it’s a sign of the times: Generation Y are having a mass exodus from Facebook, in favor of more exciting social media apps like Instagram and Snapchat. Maybe the proportions are being skewed as the ads are shared into the pro-Trump Facebook groups, which are thousands of members strong, mostly those of an older age.
Regardless, Cockburn can’t help but wonder whether there are better ways TPUSA could be spending Foster Friess’s money to engage America’s youth. They have a budget of $8 million a year.
It’s been a rough start to the month for the group. Over the weekend, they announced their expansion overseas, as Candace Owens’s fiancé launches Turning Point UK. The introductory video inadvertently spawned parody accounts from various ‘local chapters’ in locations as far-flung as Saudi Arabia and Glasgow.

Turning Point have talked a big game about their movement since they were in diapers (18 months ago). Surely it’s time to try something new? It’s time………..for a turning point?
