First, it was rumored, and denied, that the Kardashians were on it. Then its usage spread all the way to Elon Musk. But now, are we seeing the real, tragic consequences of Hollywood’s favorite slimming drug, Ozempic? Cockburn is devastated to hear of speculation that Christina Hendricks, also known as Joan from Mad Men, has succumbed to the latest celebrity trend.

Hendricks, arguably the epitome of Rubenesque beauty in Tinseltown, caused alarm among fans online after posting a photo to Instagram following a dinner earlier this month.

The forty-eight-year-old, known for her curvaceous figure, sparked speculation in the comments that she may be using Ozempic after the photo showed her noticeably slimmer, with one fan commenting, “Oh no, yet another one who is on Ozempic. How sad. She was so beautiful and curvy before.”

Ozempic, which was originally used to treat people with diabetes, was approved for use by people who were overweight and have additional health problems in 2021. Late last year the drug tore through Hollywood, with Amy Schumer, Chelsea Handler, Elon Musk and Boris Johnson admitting to trying the drug. Musk added that it made him “fit, ripped and healthy.” Hendricks has yet to comment on whether she had taken the weight loss drug.

But Ozempic has faced its fair share of criticism. The European Union is now studying the connection between suicidal thoughts and Ozempic, after a possible link was flagged by a medical agency. In the official press release, the EU stressed that it is “not yet clear whether the reported cases are linked to the medicines themselves or to the patients’ underlying conditions or other factors.” Officials are analyzing about 150 reported possible cases of self-injury and suicidal thoughts. The results will come back later this year.

Cockburn is not exactly a skinny minny — but for the good of the public, he for one hopes Ozempic is taken off the market. It is not fair that men and boys are driven to suicidal thoughts because of Christina Hendricks’s weight loss.
