It’s official. Kamala Harris has received the obligatory support of Beyoncé. The “kampaign” can finally begin in earnest. On Thursday morning, the vice president released her first campaign ad with an assist from the pop giant. Images of diverse Americans fly by as Beyoncé’s “Freedom” plays and Harris promises a utopian future free of poverty and violence. The campaign is undoubtedly hoping the choice ages better than Hillary Clinton’s overuse of “Fight Song.”

“In this election we each face a question. What kind of country do we want to live in? There are some people who think we should be a country of chaos. Of fear. Of hate,” Harris voices over in the ad. “But us. We choose something different. We choose freedom.”

While pop stars have been flocking to Harris, one question remains — where in the world is Barack Obama? The former president and Democratic kingmaker has yet to break his silence on Harris after praising Biden’s decision to exit the race. According to NBC, however, Obama already supports Harris privately and is preparing to endorse her soon.

“President Obama looks forward to helping Democrats up and down the ballot make the case to voters this fall,” said Eric Schultz, a senior advisor to Obama. “Our strategy will be based on driving impact, especially where and when his voice can move the needle.”

Others aren’t so sure. One source close to the Biden family told the New York Post that Obama is “furious” that Harris has clinched the Democratic nomination. “Obama’s very upset because he knows she can’t win. Obama knows she’s just incompetent — the border czar who never visited the border, saying that all migrants should have health insurance,” said the source. “She cannot navigate the landmines that are ahead of her.”

According to the source, Obama had counted on party elites to force Biden out of the race but was surprised when the president endorsed Harris so soon. He had allegedly hoped to install Arizona senator Mark Kelly at the top of the ticket instead.

While the Harris campaign is gathering steam, even sans Obama endorsement, Cockburn wouldn’t be surprised if Harris’s gaffes start to pick up too. In fact, the campaign has already stuck its foot in its mouth. One campaign source told NBC that candidates such as Pennsylvania governor Josh Shapiro would be a great vice presidential pick because he appeals to sexists and racists — the only people who could ever dislike Harris.

“Let’s just face it. There’s a lot of sexist, racist white dudes out there in America who don’t like Trump, but just need a little extra validation,” the source said. “And, bringing one of the people mentioned onto the ticket helps validate her among those constituents.”

With an attitude like that, Harris won’t be validating anyone.
