Cockburn already pre-ordered Ramin Setoodeh’s book, set to be released on June 18. Titled Apprentice in Wonderland: How Donald Trump and Mark Burnett Took America Through the Looking Glass, the book includes some juicy quotations from Donald Trump — specifically his thoughts on Taylor Swift.

“I think she’s beautiful — very beautiful! I find her very beautiful,” Trump said. “I think she’s liberal. She probably doesn’t like Trump. I hear she’s very talented. I think she’s very beautiful, actually — unusually beautiful!”

This wasn’t the first time the former president has talked about the superstar singer. In February, Trump said it would be “disloyal” for Swift to endorse President Biden for re-election, given that he signed legislation that made it easier for artists to collect royalties when their songs are streamed. “Joe Biden didn’t do anything for Taylor, and never will,” Trump said.

Trump also admitted to not knowing Swift’s music very well. Cockburn didn’t have to be told this, because anyone who knows Taylor and her music doesn’t just “think” she is liberal. After Donald Trump’s election in 2018, Swift has been extremely vocal about her political stance, even in her music, and Forbes named her the most influential musician in the political sphere.

Many of Taylor’s songs have strong political themes. 2019’s “Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince” is about the election in 2016 and how her “team is losing.” 2019’s “You Need to Calm Down” is Taylor’s hot take on what those who are upset with the gays should do. 2024’s “But Daddy I love Him” and “Guilty as Sin?” mock traditional Christian values. And if those lyrics are too cryptic, the pop star has been very vocal on Twitter and Instagram. Taylor took a swift turn from being a girl with “Tennessee Christian values” back when she explained her vote in the 2020 Tennessee elections.

In Setoodeh’s book, Trump further said of Taylor, “She is liberal, or is that just an act? She’s legitimately liberal? It’s not an act? It surprises me that a country star can be successful being liberal.” Setoodeh told the former president that Swift had been a pop artist for years. “He doesn’t seem aware of this,” Setoodeh wrote.

Setoodeh’s book — which is largely based on interviews with Donald Trump, Eric Trump, his boardroom advisors and some memorable Apprentice contestants — also includes Trump’s thoughts on Kim Kardashian, Debra Messing, Omarosa Manigault Newman, Geraldo Rivera, Martha Stewart and Arnold Schwarzenegger, among others. Cockburn can hardly wait to read it.
