From the palace to the White House? Joe Biden’s sister, Valerie Biden Owens, endorsed Meghan Markle as a woman she would back to be president, the Daily Mail reports. The former actress is topping a poll after Democrats asked which woman they would vote for. She is tied with Vice President Kamala Harris and ahead of Hillary Clinton.
While this may seem impressive considering Meghan has yet to make any serious moves in the political world, polling experts have put the positive result down to the “fact that the choices the Democrats have are not great,” according to the Mail.
Cockburn isn’t sure how strong an endorsement Valerie Biden Owens is: by all accounts she has no idea what is actually going on in the world. When it comes to the misdemeanors of her nephew Hunter, Valerie believes that any criticism of him is the result of political attacks by Donald Trump. “I assumed from the beginning that the former president and his entourage would attack my brother by going and attacking the family,” said Owens, adding that Trump and his Republican allies “thought that the weak link would be to attack my brother’s child.”
Meanwhile, Meghan and her husband Prince Harry are back on the offensive. In a video released today, the unpopular pair surprised some recipients of the first-ever Responsible Technology Youth Power Fund grants with phone calls. Harry and Meghan, who were all smiles, called some of the recipients from their garden
“They congratulated me; they said they were really proud of the work that we’re doing here at Cyber Collective,” Tazin Khan Norelius, founder and CEO of Cyber Collective, told People.
Meghan also asked Tazin to give a message to her dad. “She said, ‘Tell Baba I say hi!’ Which was really sweet. The impetus of me starting this organization, one of the reasons was because dad got hacked. When I was able to share that story, I think that maybe resonated with them, and they congratulated me. When I told my dad, he was just so excited about it.”
This latest move from the Sussexes comes after rumors of a rift between the royal couple circulated last month. Cockburn hopes the couple hang on: he’d hate to see Meghan follow in the footsteps of Justin Trudeau and Sanna Marin and become the first US president to get divorced while in office…
