When Cockburn turns on the television these days, something is missing. Then he realizes — that (very) little something is Dr. Anthony Fauci, whose 400-plus media events during the Covid pandemic made him a fixture of the tube.
Then one day, after we made him the highest paid employee in the federal government, Fauci upped and left, abandoning us to figure out on our own if we should stay home when we’re sick. or if coughing on our ancient relatives is a good idea or not.
But if you thought you’d seen the last of Fauci, never fear — the man has reemerged like an Omicron variant, this time as a motivational speaker.
Fox News reports:
Florida governor Ron DeSantis’s rapid response director Christina Pushaw on Sunday tweeted a screenshot from the Leading Motivational Speaker’s Agency’s website, which lists Fauci as a “motivational” and “healthcare” keynote speaker with a price tag that ranges from $50,000 to $100,000.
Fauci’s bio describes him as “America’s leading expert on infectious diseases,” adding that, “the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic thrust Anthony into the limelight as a voice of education and reason during a very alarming time in American history.”
Cockburn urges caution when perusing Fauci’s speaker page, as he considers grammatical errors to be both infectious and alarming: “Anthony is a keynote speaker who’s [sic] career warrants execution under immense pressure that can alter the course of human existence.”
If you don’t have tens of thousands of dollars sitting around, don’t worry. All you need is a connection to Yale University Medical School, where Fauci will be delivering the commencement speech this year.

Cockburn would have thought that the Ivy League college’s world-renowned School of Drama might have been a more suitable venue, given Fauci’s Primetime Emmy-worthy performances alongside Senator Rand Paul in Health, Education, Labor and Pensions committee hearings throughout the pandemic…
