The outrage of Donna Brazile

‘Ronna, go to hell! This is not about — No, go to hell! I’m tired of it!’

Donna Brazile told RNC chairwoman Ronna McDaniel to ‘go to hell’ on Tuesday, but Cockburn can’t help wondering if there isn’t a special place in hell for Brazile.

The ex-acting Democratic National Committee chairwoman became irate during a Fox News interview when she was shown a clip of McDaniel opining on her party’s primary, which has been a nightmare, to say the least.

The Democratic primary kicked off with a complete organizational failure during the Iowa caucuses and looks like it may very well conclude with a brokered convention, suggested McDaniel, which would be the best way for the party to stop Bernie Sanders.

Yet, as McDaniel pointed out, if the superdelegates do end up picking the winning candidate, the race will appear ‘rigged’ against poor Bernie.

Brazile, embodying the mad establishmentarian that is terrified of losing power if Bernie wins, pretended to be aghast at the notion that her comrades may be conspiring to stop the socialist. She initially responded by accusing McDaniel of peddling ‘Russian talking points’ — an all too familiar and hackneyed ‘talking point’ for Democrats.

Then things got personal — and Cockburn’s ears pricked up.

‘Ronna, go to hell! This is not about — No, go to hell! I’m tired of it!’ Brazile shouted on air, to the chagrin of her Fox News interviewers.

Cockburn wonders if Brazile takes particular offense at McDaniel’s allegation because she has her own experience in trying to rig the Democratic process. Brazile was fired from her role as a CNN contributor in 2016 after Wikileaks released emails showing that Brazile had fed some town hall and debate questions to Hillary Clinton in advance of the events. Brazile’s outrage at the suggestion the DNC could be working against Bernie is even more odd considering she personally investigated the party’s favoritism for Hillary Clinton after becoming interim chair and found ‘proof’ that Bernie was steamrolled.

‘In exchange for raising money and investing in the DNC, Hillary would control the party’s finances, strategy, and all the money raised,’ Brazile found. ‘The DNC also was required to consult with the campaign about all other staffing, budgeting, data, analytics, and mailings.’

‘The funding arrangement with HFA and the victory fund agreement was not illegal, but it sure looked unethical,’ Brazile alleged.

Perhaps the allegation simply ‘hit a little too close to home,’ McDaniel posited. Cockburn agrees.
